Yes Ttony, it gave me a chuckle, but I must confess that I'm convinced that Hugh Fernly Whatsisname is right about about free range chickens being good to eat and battery cooped chickens being high in fats and tasteless when eaten. I speak as one who bought six unsexed day-old chicks in Wakefield market when I was a boy. I think I paid sixpence for them. I know we used them as Christmas presents around the family when they had grown into beautiful Buff-Rock cockerels. Big birds they were and delicious. I learned how to kill and dress poultry on those birds. I also took up bee-keeping!
